Born in Greece, Eric Antoniou came to Boston in the mid-1980s. His talents were recognized early on by the local media.
While studying at The New England School of Photography, he was offered his first job freelancing for the Boston Globe. His eye for composition and light, and his ability for capturing the performer's intensity on stage and for revealing the essence of the personality in the studio quickly brought him local and national notice.
In a career spanning over ten years, Eric Antoniou has photographed for many publications including The New York Times, Rolling Stone, People Magazine, The Village Voice, Boston Magazine, The Boston Phoenix, Dance Magazine and Downbeat. Antoniou has also created work for record labels such as Capitol, Elektra, and Verve, and for performing arts organizations including The Boston Ballet, American Repertory Theatre, The Huntington Theatre, and The Massachusetts Cultural Council.
Eric Antoniou currently resides in Boston's South End.
